You need to make sure that you get an agent who represents you. Someone who is able to keep your information confidential and be able to negotiate on your behalf. Some agents work as representatives for the buyer and the seller. Other agents lists property, meaning that if you hire them to represent you, they will have to try to get the lowest price for you and still find a way to get the highest price for their agency. Make sure that you know who your agent represents and rely on them for only tips and advice. It would be wise to keep information you want to be kept confidential to yourself because it is human nature to let things slip. Remember that no body has as much at stake in this deal as you do.
